Mark is a graduate in Film and Literature from Warwick University, England, where he has also just completed his MA in Creative and Media Enterprises. In 2005, during his second year at university, he produced and directed a 90-minute horror DV movie entitled Nine with a group of university friends. The film, which was just "a fun experiment" shot with a 14-man cast and crew and a £100 budget was a critical success, with a packed screening at the university's cinema and DVDs being produced and sold due to popular demand. Jarum Halus is Mark's first full-length professional filmmaking outing. He plans to pursue further studies and exposure in filmmaking and hopes to keep making films that are "both intelligent and entertaining and do not alienate the average viewer." Mark has just finished directing an episode of Popiah Pictures' next television drama Ghost, starring Cheryl Samad, Nazrudin Rahman (Naz) and Carmen Soo, a job he was offered after the producers viewed a rough cut of Jarum Halus.
